Day 30

This beautiful card was not made by me, but I thought I should share it with you anyway. It was given to me by my very talented friend Fiona the other day and what makes this even more special is that I know just how little time she has these days to create.

A layout a week

Ha! I did actually say that I would try to do this, but so far no mojo for layouts....that is until this morning. I had a visit from LeAnne (and Sam) and she bought over a Fancy Pants Design Brag Book which I had ordered ages ago but had been unable to pick up.

When I ordered it, I had no grand design for it - I just needed to have it....and now the reason I needed it is clear. I am actually going to use it for me....well to be more accurate, about me. It is going to be filled with anecdotes, pics of me growing up, stuff about me that my kids (and most of my friends) don't know, bits and pieces of the then & the now. So that my family will have some idea of who I am, other than chef, chauffeur, nurse, housekeeper and general dogsbody. That I am a person who was (is) quirky and has very eclectic tastes in all sorts of things, from music to art, book & movies. I am a controlled hoarder and as such I have stuff to go in there as well. It is not going to be thought out, it will be a hodgepodge, hopefully something that will be a page turner.

Well that's the plan, I can only hope it works out. So while it may not be a layout as such, it is a project and right now I am going through my stash to find appropriate bits & bobs to embellish with.

Now, about those layouts, I hope to be scrapping once a month with some other scrappy ladies and hopefully it will prove fruitful. If so, I will post pics of them as I go, so while it may not be a layout a week, it may end up being a layout a month....and that's better than none at all.

Time stood still

I was going to call this post Groundhog Day, but while you might get the reference I don't suppose it's completely accurate. Neither is the actual title of this post, though for one brief moment it did and I forgot to breathe.

I had tests the other day and the results are that the cancer has returned (or never went completely as my last tests were inconclusive) and I have to have surgery and then the radioactive iodine ablation once again. It seemed sooo 2011...the same time of year, the same news, the same course of action.

My 13 year old is now 14 and so when I got home from the doctor and told both the girls, she said " so once this is done AGAIN, will that be it" and I had to tell her "I hope so, but there are no guarantees, and so we will just do it and get on with life and just see what happens and if it does come back, we will do the same again and we will keep on doing it until it gives up".

I am no saint and there was a LOT of swearing before I got home, but this time I am just mad, not scared. I know what to expect...been there, done that, got the tee shirt. I think it has to be my turn to win.

NOT a New Years resolution

I don't often make New Years resoloutions as they are so easy to break - no real accountability, so this is my Not a New Years Resolution.... a card a day. I have taken inspiration from a photo a day which has been popular amongst my friends and tweaked it. I will attempt to post a card a day and I am also attempting to do a layout a week (hmmm that one may prove more of a challenge but I can only try).

There are also things I am planning on changing in my life this year but they will have to go on hold until next month as I still have tests and results and doctors appointments to contend with over the next few weeks.

So, because I am posting this one week into the new year....here are days one-seven to get the ball rolling.....( If you like them please leave a comment so I know this is worth doing, as I hope to inspire you along the way).....
