Art Journal page 1

Well I did it... I made my first art journal page and it was so much fun. I found approaching it like I did the sheArt canvas made it that much easier. The background was easy and once I started with the face, it all just came together (the little birdie made an encore appearance). There is still some more journaling to do, but I couldn't wait to share what I had done so far:

and here is a close up of my portrait (very idealised I might add):

Revelation, inspiration & creativity

I am very lucky to know quite a few creative people, people who inspire me. A few years ago when art journals made an appearance in the scrapbooking world, it was suggested I do one too...I wasn't sure what I would do, so declined - I liked the concept and what I saw, but it wasn't for me (at the time).

But this year all that may change, and it is basically because I got to see this amazing womans work up close & personal last week: http://www.jennygarlick.com/2013/01/art-journalling-and-scrapbooking.htm. I also read a really great article about art journals which makes starting one not quite so daunting: http://notesonpaper.blogspot.com.au/2011/09/art-journal-page-from-start-to-finish.html

This year I have decided that I am going to start an art journal, do more layouts and get my Project life stuff organised (I did not say DO Project Life). I am not sure yet if I will have to go back into isolation again, but I will be off work for a bit recovering from my fourth lot of surgery shortly, so instead of just making cards (or even), I thought I would change things up a bit this time so I will post what I do, when I can.

So thank you to my crafty friends for your inspiration and your creativity (and of course your friendship).

Hard to keep a good woman down

....or me for that matter. I was lucky enough to spend a few hours with some of my fav people yesterday to celebrate the birthday's of two of them. Now I could have pulled some cards from my stash, but I really wanted to make special ones for them and this is what I came up with:

Jenny C's card

Robyn W's card
